ATTENTION MISSISSIPPI PAs:
The MAPA Board of Directors is aware of the letters received by many PAs in the state from MSBML, stating that the MBSML is limiting the number of back-up physicians a PA may have. The MAPA BOD had a teleconference with AAPA representatives for guidance concerning this issue, and a meeting with MSBML as well. The BOD wants everyone to know that we are making every effort to address and rectify this issue as quickly as possible. We will pass on any information as soon as we get it. If this affects your practice, MAPA recommends that you have your supervising and/or backup physician(s) write a letter to MSBML to communicate the potential negative impact on their practice and request a waiver to the 3 back-up physician limitation. Mail to: MSBML, Attn: Regina Lyle, 1867 Crane Ridge Drive, Suite 200-B, Jackson, MS 39216.

Mississippi Academy of Physician Assistants

Welcome to the Web site of the Mississippi Academy of Physician Assistants. As the voice of the PA profession in Mississippi, MAPA's mission is to:

  • Provide common ground where all Mississippi PAs can be heard;
  • Assure quality healthcare for all Mississippians;
  • Provide CME programs and educational workshops for PAs;
  • Advance the PA concept through the education of both professional and lay persons;
  • Mold the shape of our profession by proactive intervention in legislative affairs.

This Web site will serve both the members of MAPA as well as the general public by providing a forum for services and ideas designed to strengthen and promote the PA profession throughout Mississippi. It will also strive to publicize the contributions of PAs to patients, employers, and policy makers.

We hope you will find it informative and easy to navigate. Please feel free to contact any member of the Board of Directors with any questions, comments, or suggestions you may have. President's Letter
